Knitting Stitch

Knitting is one of the oldest forms of art that we are doing and these days it is gaining popularity because of the new trend and latest fashion designs. Have you ever wondered those beautiful hand knitted sweaters and mufflers that are just made with the help of knitting stitch using a pair of knitting needles and wool. Knitting is basically a fabric formation process comprising interlacing yarns in a series of connected loops with needles. Although it requires a lot of skills and patience but the end design shows the efforts that you have out in.  Generally there are two basic styles of knitting that is the English and the continental. The only difference between the two is that the method of holding the yarn that is how you the hold the yarn. In the English method the yarn is always held in the right hand whereas in the other form it is held in the left hand. However, they both are similar this is the only difference between the two methods. There are several other knitting stitch methods and techniques involved along with two very basic tools required that are the knitting needles of the same size and of course the yarn. These knitting stitch techniques might differ on the basis of your experience that is it has a different method for the beginners and so on.

One should always start up wit the most simplest of all the techniques and then slowly and gradually should move to the more difficult levels of knitting stitch. The basic knit stitch is the simplest to start with and through this simple knitting stitch you can then explore your potential of creating wonderful designs and patterns. Depending on the knitting stitch you can do wonders with your imagination and thus it helps you to create any design or pattern even it is the most difficult one. There are basically five different knitting stitch methods including: knit stitch, purl stitch, knit 2 together, yarn over and the stockinet stitch. All these stitching methods have their own relevance and may be they are associated with any particular size or type of knitting needle. These are the five basic knitting stitch techniques that form the foundation of knitting and moreover they are not that difficult to learn and understand and once understood you can create magnificent designs on your own with exploring your own imagination. All of the patterns raging from easy to difficult have emerged from these feat stitches only. In other words we can say that this for the base of the knitting stitch.  In a knit stitch one side of the stitch looks very different from the other side as it is formed by making loops which interweave with one another and one after the other. The purl knitting stitch is also very similar to the knit stitch however, there are some variations.

The most important thing is that all knitted garments are usually made in pieces and just because of this technique you can use different kinds of knitting stitch techniques even on one garment. These stitches generally will resemble the ‘v’ pattern when viewed from the knit side of the design. Although purl stitch is similar to that of the knit stitch but it looks like brick face when viewed from the side of the pattern. The stockinette knitting stitch is one of the most common of all and all it consists of is knitting one row and then purling the next above that and so on.

All these are various knitting stitch methods however, it completely depends upon your choice as which type of method you choose for yourself. Knitting is all about creating your own magic wit your own hands and skills so one has to be more innovative and creative for that matter to create excellent designs.
