Knitting Stitch
Knitting is one of the several methods to transform a thread or yarn into a cloth. It is not woven like other clothes but is made by interlocking rows of loops wherein each interlocking is called a stitch. So as a whole this method is said to be as a knitting stitch. It consists of loops pulled through other loops and the active loops are held on the knitting needles. This knitting stitch is a useful but a non essential craft. Unlike other cross stitch techniques knitting stitch is not similar but it varies from others on a lot many grounds.
There are two types of knitting: the Weft knitting and the Wrap knitting. A weft knitted fabric requires only a single yarn whereas wrap knitting requires one yarn for every stitch. The topology of a knit fabric is relatively complex. Unlike other woven fabrics where strands usually run straight horizontally and vertically this knitting stitch follows a loopy path along its row. It will also be stretchy in all directions because there is no single straight line of yarn anywhere in the pattern.
Knitting stitch always uses special type of fabrics and there are a lot many different properties that these fabrics have: the very basic of all of them are the texture, color and style. The canonical default texture for a knit garment is that generated by the flat stockinette stitch as seen in machine made stockings and socks. Other simple textures can be made with nothing but knit and purl stitches. Some more knitting techniques have created a surprising variety of complex textures. To enhance the appearance of a cloth or a garment in knitting stitch it is not only necessary to use good quality of yarn but it is also affected by the weight of the yarn.
Another characteristic or property of knitting stitch fabric includes the color. It depends upon an individual;s choice that whether he wants to use single colored yarn or multicolored. Some yarns are even dyed and even if the pattern is all single color and perhaps especially then-it is important that the dye lot numbers match. Yarn with multiple shades of the same hue is called ombre. Last but not the least it is the style that matters. There are many regional styles of knitted garments such as sweaters, jerseys etc.
Knitting stitch begins with the process of casting on which involves the initial creation of the stitches on the needle. There are also different methods of cast are used for different effects. One may be stretchy enough for lace, while other provides a decorative edge. The body of a knitted piece may include plain stitches or a number of colors and textured patterns. Once the knitting stitch is finished the remaining stitches are cast off. There is a vast variety of materials that knitters employ, including fibers from animals, plants, and synthetic materials but the classic knitting material is spun derived from the wool of the sheep. Therefore knitting stitch is an ongoing process which would come up with more latest designs, patterns and ideas.
